Uniforms
Carden uniforms must be worn on all occasions unless otherwise specified. The first Wednesday of each month will be our standard dress day (see description at the end of this section). Haircuts should exhibit good taste and judgment. Extreme styles or colors are not acceptable. Students must wear tennis shoes, loafers, or saddle shoes. Socks must be worn at all times. Boots may be worn on rainy days only. Patent leather shoes, sandals, or other dress shoes will be worn only for special occasions such as programs. Plain white, navy, or gray anklets, knee socks, or tights are to be worn with the uniform. The uniform is not complete without the Carden Patch sewn to all uniform sweaters, on the left-hand side. At no time may students wear fluorescent colors or oversized clothing (one size over is acceptable). Boys may not wear earrings. Students in Kindergarten through Fifth grades may not bring backpacks.
Girls:
K-3 Plaid or pastel uniforms are to be worn. Pastel jumpers are to be worn with neatly pressed, white uniform blouses or turtleneck shirts. Only uniform shorts may be worn under jumpers and skirts. Belts are not to be worn on the jumpers; the Cardinal red tie is to be worn with the plaid jumper. Navy or cardinal cardigans may be worn. Hair must be worn away from the face. A minimum amount of jewelry may be worn. No makeup or dangling earrings. Grade three may wear school sweatshirts.
Grades 4-5 Plaid or pastel pleated skirts are to be worn with short-sleeved white blouses, white turtleneck shirts, Carden V-necked sweaters, or cardigans in navy or cardinal. Jumpers may be worn through 5th grade. Cardinal red ties are to be worn with the middy blouse. The Carden School sweatshirt may be worn.
Grades 6-8 In addition to the 4-5 requirements, pleated skirts in pink, plaid, blue, or khaki are to be worn with neatly pressed long or short-sleeved oxford button-down collar blouses, white middy, white knit Carden shirt, navy knit Carden shirt, or white turtleneck shirts. Skirt lengths must be at least to the knees. In addition, the Carden School sweatshirt may be worn. Navy V-necked or crew necked sweaters or navy or cardinal cardigans may also be worn. Red ties may be worn with the middy blouse. No make-up is to be worn or brought to school.
Boys:
K-5 White, short-sleeved, pointed-collar shirts; white, navy, or blue, short-sleeved, knit shirts with collars and Carden logo; or turtleneck shirts are to be worn with navy or V-necked sweaters or navy or cardinal cardigans. All boys' hair must be above the collar and out of their faces and eyes. Boys are not allowed to have ponytails. In addition, gray or navy corduroy or oxcron pants are to be worn. Belts must be worn at all times.
Grades 6-8 In addition to the K-5 requirements, khaki pants or khaki or navy shorts and white long or short-sleeved oxford shirts, navy or white knit shirts, and Carden School sweatshirts may be worn. White turtle necks and navy crew neck sweaters or navy or cardinal cardigans may also be worn. 6th through 8th grade students may bring backpac that are no larger than 12" X 12" X 18".
All grades may wear fleece jackets with Carden School emblem.
