HANDBOOK
2. VACATION
Please notify the office at least two days in advance when requesting classwork for your child. If a student is absent only one day, classwork is not necessary.
3. MEDICAL/DENTAL APPOINTMENTS
Whenever possible, it is suggested that all appointments be made after school hours so that class disruptions are kept to a minimum. If medical appointments become necessary during school time, the recommended procedure is to send a note to the teacher and state the time the child needs to leave school for the appointment. Please do not go to the child's classroom. Parents should come into the office so that the secretary may call the classroom to dismiss the child and the parent can sign the student out for his or her appointment. (Please allow sufficient time as this process may take a few minutes.) The child will not be dismissed prior to the arrival of the parent. When a child leaves campus for any reason before the regular dismissal time, he or she will sign the Early Departure Form in the office. Children returning from an appointment must sign in at the office before going to the classroom.
Medication
State Law forbids the school to dispense any medicine, including aspirin, without the written order of a doctor and the written permission of the parents. Do not send medication with your child. Students who bring vitamins and over-the-counter medications (cough drops, Tylenol, Chapstick, etc.) must have a permission slip available at the office, signed by the parent. If you have any questions regarding this policy, please call the office.
Emergency Procedures
EARTHQUAKE
Earthquake kits for each student have been placed in all classrooms. Water and first-aid supplies are also provided for each classroom in the event of an emergency. In the event of an earthquake, parents or legal guardian will be expected to follow school procedure using our Sign-Out system from the office. The carpool driver does not constitute a legal guardian without written authorization. This is for your child's safety.
INJURY OR ACCIDENT
All reported injuries incurred on campus are immediately reported to the office. Parents will be notified. (Please be sure we have your current telephone number in the office.) Insurance forms will be provided at the office when you pick up your child.
